Job Description

Position Overview:

Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is currently seeking a Senior Accountant for a Residential Property Management firm located in Orange County, CA. Candidates must live locally to Orange County, CA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing accounting processes and ensuring financial accuracy for multiple properties.

Responsibilities:

  • Review accounting processes for properties, mainly outsourced, totaling over 50 properties.
  • Manage all accounting aspects when new properties are acquired.
  • Understand the difference between cash-based and accrual-based accounting.
  • Calculate distribution and management fees accurately.
  • Possess experience in the Property Management industry, with residential experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to multitask, adapt, and be flexible in a dynamic environment.
  • Be tech-savvy with experience in various software, specifically Yardi (required) and MRI.
  • Meet tight deadlines consistently.
  • Perform general ledger and account reconciliations, including balance sheet, prepaids, and accruals.
  • Prepare financial statements.
  • Assist with year-end audits.
  • Process monthly debt service payments, though they are automatically deducted.
  • Review accounts payable invoices, usually offline using MRI software.

Requirements:

  • 3 or more years of accounting experience within the residential property management industry.
  • Proficient in Yardi accounting software.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced environment and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or economics.

Required Work Hours:

Monday to Friday, during standard business hours.

Benefits:

Eligible for a discretionary bonus at year-end.

Additional Details:

Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000 per year
